End of half rule
I was at that game and I’m confused why byu was not allowed to run a play to end the half. The false start appeared to happen with 13 or 12 seconds on the clock. The clock operator ran it down to 9 seconds. On review I thought they would take it back to 12 or 13 then do the 10 second run off. Leaving byu 2-3 seconds to kick the field goal. I’m aware that a spike take min 3 seconds but you don’t have to spike it. Just be ready for snap the second the ref starts the clock. Can anyone help clarify this rule or what happened?

Here’s the spike rule:
Minimum Time For A Play After Spiking The Ball

ARTICLE 5.

If the game clock is stopped and will start on the referee’s signal with three or more seconds remaining in the quarter, the offense may reasonably expect to throw the ball directly to the ground (Rule 7-3-2-f) and have enough time for another play. With two seconds or one second on the game clock there is enough time for only one play. (A.R. 3-2-5-I)
