I may feel the need to share the following insights from studying Mormon and Moroni this past week:
In my mind's eye I could see Mormon, literally holding the plates.
I could see Mormon and his son, Moroni, holding each other one last time, and seeing Mormon gazing at his son with pride as Moroni now holds the plates.
Moroni would hold those plates for many years. He didn't complain having to hold the plates. He loved holding the plates. There was no whining about holding the plates. He knew he would hold them for a long time.
Moroni held them until he reached Cumorah, where he didn't need to hold them any longer. His work was done.
And perhaps, in Moroni's mind's eye he saw Joseph Smith holding those same plates centuries later.
