They allow them to "check" the receiver at the line of scrimage and then it
seems these days that they let them fight a bit as long as it's mutual, but they will call every time when they see one or the other impede the ability of the other to move on. KS said it in his post game interview that there was some holding going on throughout the game. Utah as always been notorious in regards to holding onto receivers. It's been obvious for years and years that they are taught to try to get away with as much as they can. I've seen BYU DB's get away with some of it at times, but you can clearly see that it isn't standard op. When a ref see a blatant hold, they usually always call it. Not so much the handsy banter, but holding yes.
