Better get used to the PAIN.. Big12 officiating across nearly every sport I watch since BYU joined and the very first sporting event last season is questionable at best. BYU women's soccer had one of the best teams in history last year and the first 3 matches played on South Field ended in tie scores at least partially because of dismal officiating. BYU women's basketball played Idaho earlier this week and one official whistled our side for simply breathing on Idaho players more than once in the first 3 quarters. By the time that Bball game ended 2 BYU players had fouled out. What I have seen is awful!! BYU @ TCU for soccer comes to the 63rd minute of a match before TCU players were finally called for their 3rd foul of the entire match!! By that time BYU had been called for 8 fouls with 2 yellow cards and 2 penalty kicks given up. BIASED ?? Probably!! INCOMPETENT ?? YUP !! A classic view of this was one BBALL game last year where a BYU women's player dribbled the ball across half-court and picked up the dribble.. standing solid on 2 feet she gets knocked off her stance by a lumbering opposing player and somehow this was travelling?!!!
THIS football game ?? What about that facemask on BYU that WASN'T? What about all the holding they allowed and finally perhaps made up for on that defensive holding out in the secondary that this AD is almost definitely whining about? I did not watch this game terribly closely.. but see that others posted where Utah was holding the entire game with almost NO CALLS which does not surprise me in the least. Expect more of the same because part of what is likely going on is hiring officials based on DEI which nearly guarantees to have some horrific outcomes for sports fans just like that insane modern movement has had on our politics and many corporations.
