I *think* a new generation of kickers grew up specifically training to be kickers at a younger age
And not just some soccer (not a sport) holdovers that kick on the side.
Maybe social media had a little bit to do with it and training? That’s my only guess as to why it happened now and now 10-20 years ago. Because you are right, college kickers went from liabilities from 40 yards to being able to hit 55 yarders with ease and NFL kickers are drilling 60 yarders like they are from 48.
