player does over 1-2 games, sometimes even a half. We saw it all the time last year. DH had a couple of really bad games in the first half of the schedule (Cincy?) where he pushed too hard, went like 1/10 from three in one game and a bunch of people were calling for him to be benched, a bunch of others (including me) were critical. Of course as the season wore on his net performance was outstanding and we couldn't have had the season we did without him.
KY and his staff are looking at three games, effectively (factoring Boise, which is probably the stiffest competition) and months of data from the off season. They saw Dawson put up 19 points against Boise and have a stellar second half against Central Arkansas. But his shaky game against UCR and his zero in the first half against Central Ark. They have seen TK shoot an underwhelming 25% from three in the two televised games, but 50% on 4/8 against Boise (35% by that marker).
As every year, we're gonna see guys have ebbs and flows and hopefully over time the inconsistencies level out into the higher level once the team finds its cohesion.
In the meantime (not that I'm never prone to it) I find me or anyone keyboard-shouting that Player X needs to be benched, or Player Y adds nothing is pretty silly.
