-Defense generally. Yes they shot well from 3, but we gave them too many wide open three point looks.
-Free throw shooting
-Too many “Chuck” 3s on offense. It was the case in both games, but we made a few more in the first and overall talent difference bigger. Sure we missed some open 3s (looking at you knell), but we also chucked too many “good “ 3s instead of playing for great 3s or easy 2s. I think that’s what Coach Young meant by getting “speed up” on offense.
I worry even with the talent upgrade and additional length, we’ll still have the traditional BYU Achilles heal against the big boys: lack of foot speed to contain teams with multiple, elite fast guards/wings that can shoot.
A great team overall and lots of talent here. And will be a lot of fun how they develop. Most positive thing is that they all seem to have the right attitude and interest to continue to develop and make it work.
