1. This is the most athletic team BYU has ever had BY FAR. The block by Catchings, the strip from behind by Saunders, the crazy pass by Demin to Fouss in the lane, the skying for rebounds and blocks by Keita.
2. Although athletic there are a lot of new and/or very young players on this team. It will take some time for both the team and the coaches to figure things out.
But given the obvious athleticism and skills by so many of the players, once they figure things out this will be a very good team with a very high ceiling.
3. It may not be a bad thing at this point in the season to have a game like this when so many of BYU's current deficiencies are on display. They all know they have a lot to work on, and I'm confident things will get better and better with each game.
4. Free Throws. What the heck was that? No excuse for that. There is no reason this team should not shoot at least 65% from the lane. Every player needs to take tonight's FT performance personally and put in the work to improve significantly.
5. We were all disappointed with Khalifa decided to leave. And now we have Demin. I take that trade every day.
6. Of course, I would have loved for BYU to beat UC Riverside by 30 points tonight, but I still am very high on this team. Glad for the way the early-season games are set up. Gives the team plenty of time to figure things out.
7. Disappointed when I realized they don't play again until next Wednesday. Hopefully, I can wait 5 days for the next time to see BYU play.
Go Cougars!
