exclude us from the playoffs merely because the committee chose at this point in the season to rate us behind so many teams. They are essentially saying that the Big 12 is a 1-bid league. If we don't win the championship, we are out. Meanwhile teams like Miami, Indiana and even 1-loss SEC/B1G teams have breathing room that we don't have, despite having worse resumes and similar remaining SOS. That's what sucks.
I will not be surprised if Miami gets in and we are left out if we don't win the conference championship and they lose the championship game to SMU. The committee will say something like: "We valued Miami's loss to a quality SMU team higher than BYU's loss to (insert lower-ranked Big 12 champ opponent)."
If questioned about BYU's win over SMU, they will just say, "That was early in the season and we value the more recent result."
The committee will look for every reason to include brands like Miami, Ohio St., Texas, Tennessee, Notre Dame, etc. There will always be a double standard.
