at the same time. Egor will probably be the best on-ball player we’ve had since Jimmer. He needs to be the guy handling the ball for 30 minutes a game. That doesn’t mean Hall can’t play with him, and he can still get 28-32 minutes a game, but he needs to be more effective as an off-ball player than whoever he gets those minutes instead of.
People bring up “NBA teams have more than one ball handler on the floor at a time”, and that’s true, but at least one of those guys needs to be effective off of the ball. OKC traded Josh Giddey because SGA is too good to not dominate the ball, and Giddey is pretty useless when he isn’t the one with the ball. Dallas has made it work, but that’s because Kyrie is an incredible offensive player, not just an incredible PG.
Hall can (and probably will) still play big minutes, but it won’t be because he’s a second PG on the court.
