SIU - Do you think the committee really cares here?
SMU - There was no opportunity to run up the score
Wyoming - The defense was unable to stop a really long 4th quarter drive by the Cowboys, Then elected not to finish a long drive of their own.
K-State - they beat a ranked team by 29 freaking points
Baylor - They didn't execute well the entire 2nd half on offense, so it really wasn't a "not trying to run up the score", it was "not playing well".
Arizona - They scored 14 points in the final 5 minutes
Oklahoma St. - There was no opportunity to run up the score
UCF - They had a strip sack fumble, a punt when they were backed up inside their 10, a FG and a kneel down when they got the ball back with less than a minute to go
So I'm not seeing a lot of failure to score late due to sitting on the ball. I'm seeing a couple of opportunities where offensive execution held them back and a couple more situations where the defense took the last couple of drives off and gave up cheap points.
So maybe it's been more of a "letting opponents run up their score" than a lack of us "running up the score"; and even then, there's quite a few games where it simply didn't apply.
