Just look at soccer, same problem. We use an outdated pay-to-play system
that weeds half the kids out just because their parents can't afford to pay for the competitions, plus they don't have the time because they are double income 40-hour per week jobs with hardly any vacation time, and STILL can't afford it. Ain't no American parents got time to help their kids develop in a sport. European parents have WAY more free time.

I live in Co Springs, for my kids to play competitive sports (beyond the rec level) we'd have to drive them all over the state even at age 9/10. It's ridiculous. In Europe they do a much better job of centralizing it and making it more feasible for youths and families to engage.

The systems produce exactly as they are designed.
