I didn't know for sure and was led a bit to believe the possibility too that the Big XII wanted the game to be able to be more highlighted by not being on the weekend when all the big national rivalries were going down. That thought held some water, but I believe true rivalries should be the last game of the season, so I would be happy to see it moved to such a position.
