I’m convinced more than ever that without a 16-team playoff that guarantees each power 4 conference TWO spots each, the Big-12 will only get two teams in the playoff every blue moon when two teams are undefeated all season until the CCG. It’s disgusting but I see no other alternative.

The SEC and B1G are viewed as so much better than everyone else that it’s a self fulfilling prophecy at this point. They’ll all be ranked uber high which means their losses will be to high ranked teams which means their losses will be deemed “good” losses, which means there will be a truckload of 1 and 2 and maybe even 3 loss teams sniffing the top 12 while the Big 12 will need undefeated or a VERY strategic early loss to have a chance to get there outside of winning the CCG.

Oh, and by the way, preseason and pre-playoff committee rankings ABSOLUTELY MATTER. It anchors those teams and the playoff committee is CLEARLY influenced by that. It’s all fun and games since BYU is undefeated but it’s disheartening to know that the disparity is this large.

In my dream world, each power four conference should get in two teams. One for the G5 and then three at large. I know the SEC and B1G will NEVER agree to that, but it’s the right thing to do. Otherwise, just separate into two divisions and let’s those two conferences play with their own ball and ignore everyone else. That’s what’s happening anyway.
