First, Egor, wow. I've definitely never seen anything like that at BYU. I tempted to say I've never seen anything like that in college ball. To handle and control the game, at his size, and the shooting? Crazy. There were times when our offensive game plan was get Egor the ball and let him work.
Play 1.5. In the second half, someone kicked the ball out to Egor for a deep three, and he drills it. Central Arkansas pushes the ball up the court and Egor reads the passing lane perfectly, strips it clean and throws down a lefty tomahawk. Insane. We need to get Hall back in the lineup so Egor has more catch and shoot threes.
Play 2 Voigt ran an extended zone pressure on defense where two men were charged with full court press. At one point, Katchings and Egor were pressing, and you could almost see the point guard acknowledge he wasn't getting the ball past half court. Katchings ended up poking the ball away for a steal. I've never seen that length at BYU before.
Very excited for this season. There will still be many frustrating games, but the ceiling for this team is incredibly high.
