I mean I get it but a case could be made he's just as likely to be injured
pitching in Japan as he would be for the Dodgers... errr, for whatever MLB team he feels inclined to sign with.
The bigger issue I think he would have is proof of concept - i.e. he's not as good in the US as he was in Japan.
Probably a slightly bad move but I don't think it's as risky as you make it sound.
