It’s like when you get close to a friend
Then that friend suddenly moves and does t even take the time to acknowledge you were friends. No goodby. Nothing.
Sure, he may have reached out on Facebook a month later for some perfunctory salutation, but by then, it’s like you wonder what you actually meant to that person.
