CrimWalCoug All-American in practice
BYU Women’s Cross-Country wins its second Big12 Championship. My breakdown.
Places in parentheses are actual vs. CWC projection.

1. Lexy Halladay-Lowry (4th vs. 2nd)
In contrast to Casey Clinger’s race Lexy showed she is not in the top-tier of the NCAA. She went out and tried to stay with the leaders for the first 2k and ended up paying for it as she faded big time in the last half of the race. I expect her to run much more conservatively at Nationals.

2. Riley Chamberlain (6th vs. 9th)
She ran a very smart race. Halfway through she was in 12th place and moved up to finish in 6th and only four seconds behind Lexy.

3. Taylor Rohatinsky (7th vs. 10th)
Best race of her collegiate career - looks like she is fully recovered from the injury that kept her out of Track. Ran with Riley Chamberlain the entire race, which is a great sign.

4. Carmen Alder (10th vs. 7th)
She went out a bit quick and was in 7th at 5k. She faded a bit in the last 1k and got passed by Riley and Taylor but hung on to still finish top 10. Needs to be a bit more patient if the Cougs want to win a national championship.

5. Destiny Everett (13th vs. no projection because I didn’t think she would run)
Best race of her collegiate career. I didn’t think she would even run because teams could only run 10 gals, and I thought she was our #11. Stuck with Riley and Taylor for most of the race.

6. Carlee Hansen (19th vs. 16th)
Her second race of the season after coming back from illness/injury. Heading into the season she was expected to be a top five runner, and she just may get there yet. Ran a smart race but did fade a bit in the last 1k.

7. Anastaysia Davis (23rd vs. 26th)

8. Taylor Lovell (24th vs. 13th)

9. Nelah Roberts (28th vs. 17th)

10. Jenna Hutchins (36th vs. 4th)
Had the most disappointing race on the team. She has been our clear #2 in prior races but really struggled. She was with Riley and Taylor for the first 3k, so it’s not like she went out too fast. Not sure what the deal is but we need to be her old self if we’re going to win a national championship.
