We trekked out to Lander, Wyoming for a swim dive meet last night. Didn't leave candy out, just left the house dark. The meet wasn't on the original team schedule but the coaches slipped it in so my daughter could get one more chance to break her high school's 6-Dive record - she was just 4 points away. Mission accomplished! She now holds the diving record for her middle school (5 dives), her high school's 11-dive record and her high school's 6-dive record. It was a culmination of years of work and a goal she had since she started diving in 7th grade. Over the years, the record holders that were on the board in the rec center had been there a while and had helped coach her in gymnastics and diving. Ultimately, she knocked her team mate from last year off the high school record board.
She could dive collegiately at a smaller university but she's got her heart set on BYU and diving there is waaaay more advanced than anything she learned in Wyoming. Wyoming high school only does 1 meter spring board. Either way, it's all been a fun few weeks as she wraps up her senior season and totally worth skipping out on our neighborhood Halloween festivities.
Here's a shot of her doing some work on the 3m board...we don't have one of these in our home pool.
