A few things:
1. LDS student body is much smaller than ASU, but still decent sized (there were 4 student wards when I was there). Institute is right on campus, had a variety of classes, and you could park there for free if you were enrolled in institute.
2. UofA has some fantastic, world class programs. Optics, Hydrology, Geosciences are all very highly rated. Good medical school on campus with a good nursing program.
3. Tucson as a city is kind of bland. Downtown has nothing in it, and the city has a huge amount of sprawl - it is basically a giant suburb. Most of the action is centered around students/campus. Good food, good outdoor activities nearby.
