Not only was it a great class, as a professor she made me believe I was really a great writer. A few years down the road, it made me believe I could make it in the law. She wrote a letter of recommendation for me for law school applications too, which was really going out of her way.
I hadn't seen her for 20+ yrs until last year. My son graduated with a poli-sci degree from Texas A&M where she teaches now. As we walked around campus on graduation day taking photos, I decided to go into the school to see if I could find her office. I did and she was in there, so I introduced myself- "Hi you don't remember me, but I remember you and wanted to thank you for how well my life turned out." We sat a talked for a few minutes, it seemed to really please her to have somebody who remembered her come back and thank her.
If you ever get the chance to meet one of these professors you've mentioned in this thread, be sure let them know you appreciate what they did for you. It was a really nice experience.
