I was playing D-line and one of the other DL hit the QB and jarred the ball lose. There it was sitting before me and all I had to do was scoop and score, but I instantly remembered the coaches ALWAYS teaching us to not be heroes and just fall on the ball and get the recovery. I came running back to the sideline with a smile from ear-to-ear to only hear the coach say, "Why didn't you just pick up the ball and score?" I was instantly deflated because that is what I wanted to do more than anything. Still, it was being berated for having done a good thing, so it was easy to shake off.
