And the more I think about it, Kalani the Gambler is actually very conservative and risk averse as soon as we go up 3 scores. And we can see why. We're up 34-10 on UCF and they call only runs, and then when we do go to pass, Retzlaff gets strip sacked for a fumble and we lose the ball.
We didn't call another passing play after that for the rest of the game except maybe 1 1st down conversion. Everything else was runs exclusively. Which is smart football and what everyone would clamor for if we turned the ball over passing or going 3 an out without burning a single minute off the clock
What would be interesting is seeing how Sitake would let the play calling go if we were truly dominating another team and could put another 2-3 touchdowns on them in the 4th quarter. I just don't see him doing that, but I don't know if it's because he respects other coaches/teams too much, or if the risk averse philosophy takes over at that point to secure a win.
