BYU continues to move up in computer rankings. #17 in Sagarin, #26 in SP+, #27 in FPI
And in resume metrics, #3 in SOR and #9 in resume SP+.
And #15 in overall efficiency on ESPN.
Each week, any preseason data becomes less and less significant. There’s still good reasons computer metrics use this data (it makes them more predictive over a large sample, not less) but definitely feels like they were so wrong on BYU that it’s holding them back a bit.
Anyway, I’d be interested in an article where somebody looks only at BYU’s in season efficiency data. Looks like BYU is *only* ranked #15 in overall efficiency on ESPN.

SP+ isn’t live yet, but BYU actually fell a bit in Sagarin (down 4 to #21) and FPI (down 1 to #28) this week (TCuz, Nov 3, 2024 at 8:33am)
