the opposite thinking either of “BYU’s offense is doing great so Arod is amazing!”
If head coaches and coordinators have noticeably different degrees of success or failure season in and season out then logic tells you they don’t have nearly as much influence on the success or failure as fans like to think — otherwise “great” coaches would succeed to the same degree year in and out while “bad” coaches would struggle or fail to the same degree year in and out.
The reason the HC and or coordinators see ups and downs from year to year is because their personnel change which includes skillsets, varying leadership qualities, chemistry etc… so when a team is having success it’s not cause the coach all of the sudden is “great” just like when the team struggles it’s not cause the coach all of the sudden “sucks”.
It reveals lazy and immature analysis to define a coaches level of worth based on whether they do good one season versus their team struggling prior to or after.
