Sure, style points don’t matter if you win out. But that’s incredibly difficult
to do. BYU has only done it once in over 100 years. Style points help BYU edge out other teams in the rankings, creating buffer and margin for error in case BYU has a slip up.
And if you don’t think that matters, you’re not paying attention to the B10 and SEC. They want 4 guaranteed spots EACH in the next agreement, which leaves 4 spots left for the Big12, ACC, and all G6 contenders.
