UNLVcougar Intervention Needed
Re: conversation about BYU being upset this week about perceived disrespect, I
wonder how often that actually makes a difference in putting a team or player over the top.

I’ve been reading Craig Manning’s book, Fearless Mind, and the major message in his book is that the most successful athletes are those who focus on internally developed objectives vs playing to external forces or basing emotion off external perceptions.

Everything he says seems very sound and feels right. However, I think it’s hard to deny that the emotional chip on your shoulder approach has been a big part of Utah’s success under Whit.

Bronco seemed to be a big proponent of an approach similar to what Manning advocates, but that didn’t always bring his teams success. It seemed to work for the bread and butter games, but for the big games he had mixed results.
