The offensive tempo is slow
Which limits the total number of plays. Not sure if it’s deliberate or not but byu often snaps the ball with under 8 seconds on the clock. Some of it is speed with which ARod gets the play call in, slow. Most college teams run a faster tempo offense, play call to snap.

Then when you have a game like last week it’s even worse because the defense gives up long drives and the clock runs which limits offensive possessions.
