We have 2 or 3 BYU families on our street, and like 10 or 12 Ute families...it kinda shocked me at first. However, they're all Utah natives and Utah grads, AND I've seen first hand now how a lot people in Utah Valley can grow a distaste for BYU. I'm not entirely sure why. My kids were/are UNLV fans, except the eldest who's a BYU fan, and since UNLV usually sucks, they're 2nd team was always Utah. Maybe that all changes if BYU becomes what Utah has been? I'm not sure though...but I think they view the U as the locals school, and BYU is the school full of non-locals.
