Blue was TOUGH... I thought it was harder than Purple (personally). I don't know French, but knew enough that I took a shot with the 4 that got me purple. Sort of a lucky guess. I finally figured out Green from the hint from ThisTimeAround below. I never go to the NYT homepage for anything, so that was confusing too...
