…our guys will see their guys run out of the tunnel to warm up on the field, see how humongous they are and will say “Oh crap!”

I played a year of DII basketball before my mission and at 6’5” i played the 4 most of the time (I was kind of a Richie Saunders clone). We hosted a holiday tournament back in the 80’s on Thanksgiving weekend and that year we had the University of Maryland the first round with NPOY Len Bias. We shared our practice facility with them and a bunch of us had packed up and were making our way to the door when the Terps bus rolled up and we got to watch those guys stroll off the bus into our gym.

Here we were in hoodies, dumpy sweats with old backpacks slung over our shoulders and these guys looked like they all shopped and dressed at Nordstroms with cashmere overcoats, etc. Everyone was huge/tall and I remember hearing someone in our group say, “Oh crap.” As we watched them pass by. Haha 😃
