We need a little more background than that.
In Utah, noncompetes can't be longer than a year and have to be reasonably limited in scope (geography, industry, etc.). For example, a compounding pharmacy can't keep former employees from working in any pharmacy practice generally throughout the United States, but they can keep them from working for a competing pharmacy down the street or within the same 50 mile radius.

Also, if a noncompete was a contract the former employee signed as a part of onboarding, it will be harder to enforce than if it's a negotiated term in a severance agreement.
