Something I've been thinking about regarding the 12team College Football Playoff

The narrative right now is that the SEC is the most elite and deepest conference in D1.

AP voters reflect this narrative by putting 4 one-loss SEC teams above the 2 undefeated Big XII teams.

So then if the SEC cannibalizes itself like it's doing now, it's because it's "deeper" - leading to losses in conference play being considered "good" losses, meaning their teams don't fall in the rankings too much.

Narrative preserved.

But what about when there's 12 teams in the playoff? If Big XII and ACC teams start winning some championships, or maybe even a G5 team like Boise State, won't the narrative be broken? Won't people realize that the SEC wasn't quite so much deeper and better than everyone else?

Here's the punch line: if the narrative is to continue, they have to make sure that SEC teams keep winning championships. That means two things:

1) Get as many SEC teams in as possible. This is done by keeping them high in the rankings so they still look good, even after losing to each other.

2) Refs have to be on their side.

Like we're seeing with Miami their past few games, I am convinced we're going to see some ref shenanigans this postseason.

 Thoughts?
