Loyalty the KWhitt way vs the Kalani way
Coach Ludwig was a highly experienced and successful coach, and responsible for some of Utah’s best offenses. This year they struggled with an injured starter and true freshman QB.

Three losses and he’s out. KWhitt has no patience for losing, regardless of what the asst coach did in the past. If there’s a loyalty issue, maybe he sees it as loyalty to the program and fan base over the coach. Who knows. I won’t judge that.

Whatever the motive, this move is short sighted IMO. I’m speculating that something more is going on than we see. I doubt Utah football is better in the long run—or maybe short run—from this move.

Compare this approach to Kalani’s. His personal loyalty to Tuiaki and Tafisi would be admirable in some contexts, but it objectively was not good for Cougar Nation, BYU, the other coaches or the guys sweating and bleeding for the team. As head of the program, Kalani had a responsibility to order his priorities and put the team first, even over his loyalty to friends.

So what’s the bottom line: Kalani’s my guy but I hope he has learned his lesson. For KWhitt, I think you will come to regret this decision even if you did it for what you believed was best for the program.
