There as a small crowd of people watching the last play, including about five mean looking guys who were obviously ute fans and looked like they were members of a local Poly gang. When Harline caught the final pass my two friends and I started yelling and high-fiving each other. The Poly gang guys turned to us and started threatening to kick our butts. They were quite angry. We weren't too afraid of them while there in the concourse of the mall amidst witnesses--where we stayed for about 20 minutes reveling in the BYU victory.
The Poly gang stayed too then started following a few yards behind us through the mall towards the parking lot. I realized what was likely about to happen so I deliberately flipped the tail of my longer, untucked shirt up high enough to reveal to them that I was packing. Then turned and backed towards the wall near the doors so that they could pass by as I put my right hand behind my hip.
Fortunately they saw it, got the message, and proceeded to sneer and flip us off but giving us more space as they walked out the door. We then went out another way.
Now I doubt guns, knives and that much bad feelings would come to a ward party but I still say NO!
Plus, regardless of who they are ute fans are insufferably bad winners and losers. Even some church members.
