I got home from that trip and then do a normal renewal. We renewed our kids’ passports back in August so we would get them in time for the December trip. I could have renewed then but didn’t think I needed to.

But my manager just asked me to go to India with him in Feb. India, like many places, requires you to have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months beyond the planned travel. That doesn’t leave enough time on my passport to travel on it- I will need to renew.

So now I have to decide whether I try to do a rush renewal now to get the passport in ~6 weeks (including a big holiday) before the December trip to Europe, or if I wait and do a rush renewal in December ~6 weeks (including a big holiday) before a trip to India in February.
