It hasn't been true for BYU since...well, ever...but this year it is: if we do not lose, we will hoist a trophy. Period.

If we do not lose, we will be in the Big XII championship game.
If we do not lose that game, we will be in the playoff.
If we do not lose the playoff, we will be national champions.

No voting. No committees. No perception. No rankings. No preseason this or that. No strength of schedule.

NOTHING.

We can speculate about what happens if we lose once, or twice, or if this team or that one wins and how impressively, but none of it changes the essential fact that undefeated is undefeated. We are not Boise St. We are not Army or Navy. We are BYU, and if we don't lose, we will be champions of college football.
