The funny thing is that I would say both OP and all the other comments
make some really good points.

Football is a swingy game, especially outside of the really bad and the blue-blood (and even for them!). Remembering humility and a hunger to improve, as well as a willingness to accept that sometimes things don't pan out, is important for being a fan.

On the other hand, I would say BYU last (and this) year showed a good amount of exactly those things- a recognition that sometimes you take your lumps, in what would have been in the NFL called a rebuilding year. This year, we are grateful for our great success and still hungry and humble, not feeling like it is our due or we are owed it.

Utah, on the other hand, didn't think of this as a 'rebuilding year.' They (or at least the fans) acted like they were too good for their new conference, and expected to run rough shod over everybody here. As a result, their losses are both shocking and embarrassing to them- and the Ute media is adding to that by trying to shield their readers from humble pie, which means that when it comes, it is a bigger serving than ever.
