Today I went to Draper court to fight a ticket
I was going about 80 around the point of the mountain at midnight. An unmarked car started following me and the approached me at speeds from directly behind me at over 100 mph.

When I saw him coming so fast I wanted to get over but there were cars blocking me to the right and my only options were to slam on breaks or speed up and get over.

I chose speed up. As soon as I did he turned on his lights and pulled me over. When he came to the window I asked why he didn’t turn on his lights and pull me over when he first saw me speeding.

His exact words from the dash cam were “I wanted to see how fast you’d go and I knew you’d go faster”. I told him I thought it was pretty bush league to essentially push me from behind in and unmarked car without turning on lights and representing who he was. He crumpled up my ticket and threw it at me and said well I guess you can tell the judge that.

So I decided to do just that. On my arraignment I met the prosecutor and said I was willing to admit to speeding at 80 when I first past him if they would reduce the 100 mph and $1000 fine. He said no what the cop did was perfectly legal.

The next court date I took off half a day of work and they emailed me an hour before saying their witness couldn’t make it. Today was the new day and the prosecution asked again for a continuance because the cop was “ sick “.

The judge said I usually give both parties a time to miss their date and then we move forward. I said your honor this is the second time they have missed the date and I’ve taken off work both times to represent myself. My rights are for a speedy trial and to question my accuser. The state has not provided a witness and in light of that I’m asking for a dismissal.

She said she was willing to grant my dismissal but not with prejudice meaning the state could refile my case. She also admitted there was a double standard because if I didn’t show it would go to warrant but the cop was free not show. I took the dismissal. My best friend is a lawyer in GA said that most likely they will not refile the case

So I’m feeling pretty Perry Mason at the moment
