Message boards, social media, etc. just make it easier for them to congregate, and it also provides them enough anonymity to feel the courage to blast out their crazy opinions and emotional responses even louder.

After the past few weeks I've seen some Utes online post calling for Whittingham's head. I'm sure that last season there were calls for Sitake's head. If the Utes keep on losing there will be even more hasty calls to action by Ute fans. They have short memories.

I went to the Arizona / Utah game a few weeks back and two Utah fans sitting behind my group almost got in a fist fight during the first quarter. One was mad at the other because he was complaining about the refs and long TV timeouts. Stupid.

Some extended family of mine were talking to me Saturday after the BYU / Arizona game (they'd attended the game in Provo). They're big BYU fans and season ticket holders. They said another BYU fan near them complained the entire game about the Cougars' play. And this was even after they had taken control and boat raced the Wildcats.

Some fans just aren't going to be happy no matter what.
