more than the program. That he fired Ty because he wasn’t his “boy” and let Tuiaki get away with anything because they were friends. Some said “poly” and “hang loose” culture were killing the program.
During last year’s 5-7 campaign he was in over his head, unintelligible, refused to hold people accountable, so on.
I have been a long time defender of Kalani in particular. The fact that any of our fans have to defend him at all is sad in its own way. I never defended Tuiaki though specifically, other than saying statistically and wins/loss wise he simply wasn’t as bad as come of you claim he was prior to 2022.
Honestly I would have kept my mouth shut if the complaints were just about Tuiaki running a bad defense. In fact I did keep my mouth shut until I saw the narrative of Kalani’s hang loose poly bro/cousin laid back culture and he’s in over his head. So much of the criticism was absolutely about Kalani’s character the fact that he fired Ty but kept his buddy.
This whole point is really moot because even after Tuiaki was gone, throughout 2023 the narrative didn’t stop. I had one fan on here insinuate to me that Kalani can’t even answer the sideline reporters questions about the game because he’s to unintelligent to know what’s really going on.
Anyway it doesn’t matter. Tuiaki and Lamb eventually failed and Kalani replaced them with 100% the right guy(s). That’s what does matter.
