During climbing accidents
A few years ago there was a write up about a very experienced Exum Guide He fell over 2,000 ft died. He was guiding some inner city kids. From the research they figured he used a water knot for his webbing sling. They did a study that showed that over time and cyclic loading it will pull through and you should have at least a 6 inch tail on your knot.
In my younger days, we pretty much would free solo the Grand Owen Spaulding and do the 120 foot free rappel. I took my two youngest up last year, and I had them roped up almost the whole time. I never been so nervous in my life. Kids scare me and their mom scares me worse.
Again, every year, I havelearned so much reading about from the climbing accidents of North America History has a way of repeating itself
And it’s very sobering as every place I’ve been reading about people have died on the same routes
