We have done this for multiple fall breaks. Sometimes you get nice sunny fall days, and sometimes snow. There is no one there and that makes it awesome. Front row parking at Old Faithful. No motorhomes. It’s fun.

Hit all the thermal areas. The cold and snow, steam, and colors make for some fantastic pictures. Totally different view of things.

Dress like you are going skiing and it makes the little hikes much more enjoyable.

Get up to the Lamar Valley for sunrise and listen for the wolves. With lots of hot cocoa.

Mammoth is a little lower in elevation and can be a little warmer.
