Polecat Intervention Needed
Jake Hatch said in a podcast once that the defense BYU used to run was the
“Brainchild of Ed Lamb.” I think specifically the bend don’t break style and and hockey style substitutions to try keep fresh players on the field. That ended up spelling disaster and the wheels fell off in 2022.

I think Ed Lamb was probably more of a controlling ego personality. Whatever he was there was some reason he had to go after 2022.

It’s impossible to isolate variables but him being gone has also led to the turn around of the program.

As far as accountability, when and how has Kalani not held Arod accountable? Arod officially became sole OC in 2021, and was calling plays I’m told in 2020. Were those bad offensive years? No. Was 2022 a bad offensive year? I don’t think so. 2023 was bad across the board and I thought everyone agreed the O Line was the major problem. Kalani made a change. 2024 offense? Getting better each game and 6-0 with a JC QB and 3rd string center and a rash of RB injuries.

Was Arod supposed to be out in a medieval pillory and have tomatoes hurled at him or something? Or get 50 lashings with a wet noodle?

I think this whole “Arod not held accountable “ is some odd imaginary narrative some people have. I don’t see signs of it anywhere in reality.
