Every job posting we get at least 500 applicants within the first few days, and 99% of them have resumes that are completely irrelevant to the posted job description/requirements.
Our automated system will catch most of them, and our HR person will weed out the majority of the ones that make it past the AI scanner or whatever, but it still turns into me having to spend a few hours going through 50 resumes that made it through both of them. If I’m lucky there will be two worth following up on, and usually they don’t pass the subsequent HR screen for whatever reason.
The quantity vs quality ratio over there is just insane. When we post a job in the US, we get maybe 50 applicants total, but the hit rate is much higher.
