Almost zero reason to worry. Raw meat is not inherently unsafe.
It’s really only that it has a potential to come into contact with bacteria during processing. Ground meat has the highest potential, but even that is lower idk than produce. Solid cuts of beef are pretty low risk.

People eat beef tartare and beef carpaccio on the regular.

I’ve eaten raw meat and raw steak on numerous occasions. Never had an issue.

Relax, he’ll be fine.
