If the CFP was selected today I bet we would be 10 or 11 and get in
The AP poll is largely an eye test and inertia of pre season rankings.
But it would be really hard to put two of Clemson, Tennessee, and ND in over BYU when you objectively compare our resumes to theirs.
The CFP committee likes good wins and we have them without having any losses.
