Today was one of the best days of my life as a BYU fan. And my fanhood stretches back 4 decades. I can remember watching McMahon and Young playing in what was then Cougar Stadium.

Today I got to experience the joy of watching a great BYU football game with my two sons - one of which is a BYU student and member of the ROTC. Today he was working the cannon crew and we got to go down and watch him fire the cannon and do pushups. He did LOTS of pushups today!

Anyway, what I am trying to say is I am sorry. I was a doubter at the start of the season and I didn’t think that we would even get bowl eligible. Boy was I wrong and I am ashamed that I didn’t believe. This team is much better than I expected after the trauma of last season. I am a believer now.

I am also a believer in Jake Retzlaff now. He has improved immensely from last season and I was wrong about his potential. He’s a remarkable young man and a great athlete. Is he one of the greats? Only time will tell but I am going to support him and cheer for him from here on.

This team has already exceeded my expectations and I am going to just enjoy the ride the rest of the season. My only demand is that we beat Utah this year. We are the better team and we should win. I’ve seen enough rivalry games to know that anything can happen but I do believe that we can and should win the Holy War this year. Rising is awful and we need to send that loser out with a Loss.

So tonight I am eating my crow gladly and washing it down with a big glass of blue kool-aid. GO COUGARS!!!
