I went with a Mitsubishi unit from hvacdirect.com. I installed 90% of the way and then had an HVAC guy finish connecting the lines and priming it for $300. When I chatted with him he recommended the Pioneer brand ones you can get on Amazon which, had I known, would have saved me about $1k.
Worked great this summer and all last winter (I do live in the banana belt though).
The only con for me is that it doesn't mix around the air all that well so in the winter it would be nice and warm at head level, but cold at floor level. Since I sit at my desk all day my feet got really cold. I put in a ceiling fan and running it on low fixes that issue completely.
