can see that there is an obvious vision for the type of team they want to be. This is what I saw last night…
1. A clear desire to get out and run in the fast break. This team will look to score quickly.
2. The spacing was for the most part really good for being so early. You can see they are intentionally trying to space and create lanes for a few different reasons.
3. There didn’t seem to be any limits on taking open 3 point shots for anyone on the team. Particularly corner 3’s. They were working on back screens and rolls to get open corner 3’s a lot.
In the half court, I saw a lot of pick and roll action from different looks and we have players that were capable of scoring at all 3 levels, so this won’t just be a team that lives and dies by the 3.
4. Unselfishness was on full display. We will likely see this team push into the top 10 in assists because of their willingness to drive and kick to open teammates.
5. If we put a name on the system it reminded me of the old Carolina Fastbreak system that a lot of NBA teams have copied and innovated on over the years.
